One of my favorite feel-good movies is Nora Ephron’s 2009 film, Julie & Julia, based on the true stories of chef Julia (“Mastering the Art of French Cooking”) Child and her acolyte, Julie Powell, who ended up cooking all of the recipes in Child’s cookbook and blogging about it. (I remember Powell’s original and hilarious blog posts on Salon.) At one point in the movie, before diving into her “year of cooking dangerously,” Powell says, “I could write a blog. I have thoughts.”

I also have thoughts, but not about cooking, given what is going on in America these days. This blog is where I will share some observations and experiences and even humor(!) that I hope will be helpful to people who want to join me (and so many other Americans) in beating back the insanity and chaos and lawlessness that fascists in power — yes, actual, real-life fascists! — are attempting to normalize in the United States.
